Experience the movie in a whole new way!

It’s being reported by multiple sources that the critically acclaimed movie In This Corner of the World (Kono Sekai no Katasumi ni) will be re-released to theaters in Japan this December with 30 minutes of bonus footage. The new name for the movie will be In This Corner of the World (Even More). No word on if the movie will see another US theatrical run, but stay tuned to this site for details if and/or when one is announced.

If you missed out on this movie, don’t feel too bad since I missed out on seeing it as well. However, this is one of these movies that everyone should probably at least make an effort to view at least once if the critical acclaim, awards, and worldwide box office success is any indication.

The movie itself is based on a manga of the same name, which ran in Manga Action magazine from 2007 to 2009. Created by Fumiyo Kouno, the story is licensed by Seven Seas who describe the series as:

1940s Hiroshima. Suzu, a young bride, leaves her home to join her new husband, a member of the Japanese navy, at a military base in the port city of Kure. Confronted with the challenges of a new life, Suzu must also come to grips with a world at war and her beautiful home collapsing around her. Unwilling to give up hope, Suzu holds on to happiness to persevere through the trials of war.

The awards and acclaim didn’t come right away, however. The movie opened at #10 at the Japanese box office in 63 theaters back in November 2016. 19 weeks later though, the movie ended up crossing the 2.5 billion yen mark.

Since its release in 2016, the movie has gone on to win multiple awards including Best Animated Film at the 40th Japan Academy Awards, the Jury Award at the 41st Annecy International Animated Film Festival, and many, many others.

Not bad for a movie that started as a crowdfunding campaign in 2015.

Yuri on Ice Movie Reveals 2019 Release Date and Staff Details

Yuri on Ice Movie Key Visual

As reported here a couple of days ago, late last night/early this morning there was a special Yuri on Ice concert held in Osaka, Japan that came complete with the news that we’ve been waiting for.

We can finally reveal that the new Yuri on Ice movie (titled Yuri on Ice the Movie: Ice Adolescence) that we’ve been promised for many months now will be released in 2019. Additionally, we know that most of the crew will be returning to fill the roles that made this series such a special treat, including Sayo Yamamoto as director and series compositioner.

Originally a TV series released in October 2016, the series swept the globe in positivity thanks to an infectiously inspirational opening theme song and a story that was both entertaining and captivating.

In the series, the main character is a down-on-his-luck figure skater from Japan named Yuri Katsuki. After bombing out of his recent competitions, a sneaky practice video is released of him performing a routine made famous by his idol, Victor Nikiforov. Thanks to the video, the star skater comes to Japan and becomes Yuri’s new coach.

If you missed out on this series when it first aired and haven’t gone out of your way to check it out for whatever reason, I urge you to go do so right this second, and then come back to leave a comment thanking me for pushing you in the right direction.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!
